About David
David represents clients across the spectrum of family law, including divorce, complex custody disputes, protection from abuse, equitable distribution, alimony, and child support. He has handled highly contested parenting matters and high-asset divorces involving difficult financial questions, business interests, and concerns about undisclosed assets. Whether working toward an agreement or preparing for trial, he approaches each matter with curiosity, persistence, and close attention to the people whose lives will be affected.
Understanding the people. Investigating the details.
David’s work begins with listening. He wants to understand what brought a client to his office, what matters most to them, and what they hope life can look like on the other side of a dispute. From there, he works to separate immediate concerns from longer-term priorities and turn a complicated situation into a series of informed decisions.
At his prior firm, David was entrusted with particularly challenging, high-conflict custody cases and complex, high-asset divorce matters. His experience includes working with financial experts and guardians ad litem, preparing and presenting cases in family court, participating in mediation, and negotiating settlements.
He brings an investigative mindset to the work: examining financial records, tracing inconsistencies, organizing evidence, and asking the questions that help reveal the fuller picture. His background in complex litigation and electronic discovery informs how he approaches substantial document collections, sensitive information, and disputed facts.
For David, thorough preparation is also a form of reassurance. Helping clients understand the evidence, their options, and the next steps can make an unfamiliar process feel more manageable.
Committed to resolution. Comfortable in court.
David works diligently to resolve disputes through negotiation and mediation whenever those approaches serve his clients’ interests. He values thoughtful agreements that address practical realities and give people a workable foundation for moving forward.
When an agreement cannot be reached, he is comfortable taking the matter to court. David sees courtroom advocacy as an important opportunity to present a client’s concerns clearly, test disputed evidence, and seek resolution through an orderly process. He prepares clients for what to expect and works to ensure that their position is presented with focus and care.
His family law work has brought him into regular contact with attorneys, judges, and court staff in Montgomery, Bucks, Philadelphia, and Delaware Counties. He values the professional relationships built through respectful communication, preparation, and collegiality—while remaining a determined advocate for his clients.
A broader perspective on complex problems.
David started his legal career at his oldest brother’s law firm, Mildenberg and Stalbaum, P.C., where he worked closely with the lead partner on complex civil rights litigation, including large class actions. That work involved substantive legal research, state and federal court proceedings, and challenging discovery issues concerning confidentiality, privilege, document production, and preservation of evidence.
He also managed the firm’s consumer law practice, helping clients facing mortgage foreclosure and bankruptcy. Through consultations, negotiations, and court appearances, he worked with individuals and families confronting financial uncertainty and difficult choices about their futures.
David’s additional experience with large-scale electronic discovery included reviewing financial records, corporate communications, contracts, and other materials in matters involving government investigations. Together, these experiences contribute to a practice grounded in careful analysis, organized preparation, and an appreciation for the human consequences of legal disputes.
Beyond the practice.
David’s interest in helping people navigate unfamiliar terrain extends beyond the law.
He founded and operated Valley to Summit, LLC, a guided wilderness adventure company offering experiences throughout Pennsylvania such as rock climbing, rappelling, kayaking, snowshoeing, and ice hiking. Building the company required leadership, sound judgment, risk management, and the ability to help people approach challenges with preparation and confidence.
He later served as Gym Director of The Cliffs at Callowhill (now Movement), overseeing the development of a 40,000-square-foot climbing and fitness facility and hiring, training, and leading a team of more than 40 employees. Those experiences also gave him a firsthand understanding of business ownership, operational responsibilities, and the decisions that affect employees and families.
An avid reader and outdoor enthusiast, David brings intellectual curiosity and a counselor’s perspective to his work. His studies in philosophy, literature, and the natural sciences continue to inform his interest in people, ideas, and the questions beneath the surface of a dispute.
David’s connection to the Philadelphia region is deeply personal. Born in Philadelphia and raised in the Montgomery County suburbs, he cherishes the communities that have shaped his life. After living in the city for nearly 18 years, he recently returned to the suburbs—a homecoming that has brought familiar places, memories, and a renewed appreciation for his roots.
Outside his professional life, David enjoys time with his son, reading, and being outdoors. His family recently welcomed two cats, Flashy and Hattie. This region is more than where he practices law; it is home, and helping the people who live here makes his work especially meaningful.
What connects these parts of his life is a lasting enthusiasm for helping people through change. In his legal practice, that means being a steady guide: listening closely, explaining clearly, and advocating with purpose as clients begin their next chapter.
