About Heather

Heather helps clients work through the legal, financial, and personal challenges of family transitions. An experienced family law attorney, certified family law mediator, and child advocate, she brings a broad perspective to emotionally difficult situations. Her approach combines careful attention to legal rights and entitlements with an equally important commitment: making sure each client feels heard, informed, and supported.

A steady presence when emotions run high.

Few legal matters feel as personal as a divorce or a disagreement about a child’s future. Heather understands that clients may be managing grief, uncertainty, frustration, and practical pressures at the same time. She brings a composed, empathetic presence to these conversations, helping clients organize their concerns and focus on decisions they can make with confidence.

Her experience includes guiding clients through difficult divorces and emotionally charged custody situations. She takes time to explain the legal issues, explore available options, and help clients distinguish immediate worries from their longer-term priorities. Clear communication is central to that work: clients should understand what is happening, why it matters, and what comes next.

Heather’s calm manner is grounded in careful attention to the person behind the matter. She listens closely, welcomes questions, and works with clients to develop a path that reflects their goals while protecting their interests.

Thoughtful agreements. A clearer foundation.

Heather works closely with clients to develop and negotiate agreements that address both legal rights and the realities of their lives. She brings particular care to prenuptial and marital settlement agreements, helping clients understand the commitments they are making and the questions that deserve attention before an agreement is signed.

Her approach encourages informed decisions rather than rushed ones. By discussing priorities, explaining options, and working through difficult details, she helps clients seek agreements that reflect their goals and provide a clearer foundation for the future.

Making room for understanding.

As a certified family law mediator, Heather helps people explore a collaborative path through divorce, custody, and other family-related matters. Mediation calls for patience, careful listening, and the ability to keep a difficult conversation productive—qualities that are central to her work.

In her role as a neutral mediator, she helps participants identify concerns, understand differing perspectives, and explore possible agreements. Her work as a child advocate also brings an appreciation for the experiences of children when families are navigating change.

Whether serving as an attorney or a mediator, Heather remains attentive to the human consequences of each decision and the possibilities that may emerge as families move forward.

Experience built around people.

Before returning to school, Heather spent eight years in leadership roles with EMSI. As a Senior Team Leader, she ran the satellite office in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, for six years, followed by two years running the Agent Hotline in Texas. Those responsibilities gave her a practical foundation in communication, organization, and helping people work through questions and challenges.

She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from Temple University’s Fox School of Business in 2003, graduating summa cum laude. She then earned her Juris Doctor from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law in 2005, where she received an award for outstanding oral advocacy.

That combination of business education, leadership experience, and legal training informs the thoughtful, practical counsel she brings to her clients today.

Deep roots. A personal connection.

Montgomery County has been Heather’s lifelong home. Her connection to the region is personal, and her work is rooted in a lasting commitment to the people and communities around her. Over more than two decades in family law, she has developed deep connections within the local family law professional community.

Heather’s warmth extends beyond her work. She has a generous heart, a memorable laugh, and an easy way of connecting with people. At home, her much-loved dog, Diggy—a very large dog with a special place in her life—is a source of joy.

For Heather, helping someone through a difficult chapter is about more than reaching the next legal milestone. It is also about helping them make informed decisions that support growth, restore a sense of direction, and leave room for new opportunities.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions on your mind?

A few helpful answers as you consider your next step.

How can a PFA matter affect other family issues?

While a PFA matter can overlap with custody, it should not be used as leverage in a custody dispute. The underlying facts of a PFA can still be relevant in a custody matter, depending on the facts and circumstances of the case. PFA's can also impact housing, even for custodial parents.
